UpcomingICTCT Conference 2024

International Co-operation on Theories and Concepts in Traffic safety—ICTCT—is an international association aiming since 1988 at building up and sharing scientific knowledge on road safety, with a particular interest for methods that do not only rely on crash data but also on non-crash events. It does so by organizing conferences, courses and opportunities for knowledge transfer, all directed to a worldwide professional audience. ICTCT approaches safety as an integral part of the wider road traffic system, envisaging all transport modes with a specific emphasis on vulnerable road users.

UpcomingEURODYN 2023

XII International Conference on Structural Dynamics

On behalf of the European Association for Structural Dynamics (EASD), it is a great pleasure to welcome you to the XII International Conference on Structural Dynamics, EURODYN 2023, in Delft. This conference follows earlier successful conferences held in Bochum (1990), Trondheim (1993), Florence (1996), Prague (1999), Munich (2002), Paris (2005), Southampton (2008), Leuven (2011), Porto (2014), Rome (2017) and Athens (2020) and will take place from 2 to 5 July 2023.

The EURODYN Conference has developed into one of the key conferences in Structural Dynamics. EURODYN 20203 is devoted to theoretical, computational and experimental developments in structural dynamics and their application to all types of structures and dynamical systems. The conference will reflect the state of the art of structural dynamics and dynamical systems in science and engineering practice and is an opportunity to exchange scientific, technical and experimental ideas. EURODYN 2023 covers all major aspects of structural dynamics through Plenary or Semi-Plenary Keynote Lectures and a large number of Mini-symposia.

EURODYN 2023 will take place in Delft (Netherlands), at the Delft University of Technology, and will be organized by Prof. Andrei Metrikine and co-worker Dr. Karel van Dalen. Around 600 participants from European and non-European countries are expected to participate in four days of exciting presentations and discussion of research ideas. In addition to the main sessions, our guests will be treated to a welcome party, technical tours and a gala banquet, in and around the beautiful city of Delft.

On the evening of June 21 2022, the Mobility|Society Live takes place in the Aula of Delft University of Technology. With the expressed aim of disentangling the relations between mobility and society, we will explore the social, economic, symbolic, and personal dimensions of mobility and investigate the global flows of people, ideas, assets, goods and materials.

Expired2nd Workshop on Cloud Organization (WCO2)

The challenge: Our capability to simulate and observe the spatio-temporal organization of clouds and convection has strongly improved over the last decade. However, the fundamental understanding of what drives pattern formation in clouds and its effect on precipitation and on the strength of cloud feedback remain to be uncovered.

The workshop: This scientific meeting aims to provide an interactive platform to present and discuss ongoing innovative work and open questions about organized and self-organized phenomena in clouds and convection. We especially invite thought-provoking contributions and novel ideas based on new observational field campaigns, e.g., EUREC4A, on high resolution, large domain simulations of tropical deep and shallow convection, extreme events including mesoscale convective systems (MCS), and on conceptual models and theoretical approaches. New insight into cloud microphysical and radiative cloud properties and their influence on organization are especially welcome.

On each day of the conference, we expect one or two themed sessions, opened by an invited keynote speaker and followed by contributed talks and posters.

The topics: The workshop will be organized around three broadly-defined themes:

  1. Conceptual models for cloud (self-) organization,
  2. Mesoscale organization of shallow and deep cumulus convection,
  3. Interactions between cloud organization and climate sensitivity.

The presentation format: All participants are encouraged to contribute by either a poster or a talk (approximately 15 min + discussion). These contributions are broadly grouped into the three aforementioned topics.

The venue and registration fee: The meeting will be hosted in Utrecht at the Utrecht Public Library (website in Dutch). The library is an iconic building in the Amsterdam school style, right in the heart of Utrecht. It used to house the head post office and has been recently turned into a library and meeting space. The registration cost will be 150€ per participant, and will cover attendance, lunches and coffee breaks. Participation in a conference dinner will be optional. Covid-19 precautions will be implemented as appropriate at the time of the meeting and in line with Dutch regulations and potential travel restrictions.

ExpiredReinventing the City

Cities play an essential role in our society. It’s where we – with ever growing numbers – live, work, recreate and care. At the same time, the city is also the place where major transitions (also visibly) occur. Precisely for that reason, our cities set the agenda for the improvement of the liveability and sustainability of the world we live in. They can kick off, accelerate, and embrace urban innovation of mobility, circularity, energy transition, climate adaptation, urban food systems and digitization. With our cities growing, the need for innovative solutions to tackle these challenges is on a rise, and more relevant than ever. The conference ‘Reinventing the City’ sets the stage to spark a dialogue between scientists, policymakers, students, and industry partners from different backgrounds and areas of expertise.

Join the conference
From February 16 to 18, 2022, we as AMS Institute host the scientific conference “Reinventing the City” with a program of Keynotes, Panel Sessions, Workshops, Special Sessions and Paper presentations. These are focused around six key urban challenges that guide the way towards innovative, inclusive and sustainable cities. We are honoured to host Carolyn Steel (architect & author Hungry City: How Food Shapes our Lives) and Wouter Veldhuis (Chief Government Advisor on the Built and Rural Environment) and Anna König Jerlmyr (Mayor of Stockholm) as our keynote speakers, and as of now the Workshops and Special Session can be found via the program page. Paper presentations will be published mid-January. Register now here. Please note: we have special fees for students.

Conference goal
Working on urban challenges requires cooperation on a multi-stakeholder level. This is what we do as an institute, and is also the primary goal of the conference:

“To share and discuss multi-disciplinary insights and inspire each other to take actionable steps towards sustainable urban transformations.”
